Re: Deming's 14 points of TQM
Dear Jessie,
This is my experience.
The organization should be in a stage where the top management is saying
"YES" to the idea to transform themself and willing to adopt Deming
management philosophy ("DMP").
If he / she has doubt, forget the whole idea...... Ask him to meet Myron or
me first... :-))
Then bring somebody with knowledge on "DMP" to do a survey, so she/he will
be able to see all those things that can be rectified or those things that
violate "DMP".
Then everybody in the organization, starting from the TOP MANAGEMENT,
should have a SoPK transformation course. Understanding the SoPK and how to
use them. The one who give the course should use internal samples.
Then re-organize the organization to a flat organization. Set up the
Steering team and the other teams (Should look at a myriad of books about
this).
Now discuss the 14 points of Deming and make sure everybody remembers the
14 points by heart (Our Company has a special tools for it,(by DR Januar
Darmawan)).
Then you have to make all members of the organization to discuss the cases
and explanation of the philosophy thru the 50 Modules.
This has to be followed by the management Vision, Mission, Strategic Plan
and of course everyday, everybody should consciously and actively applying
the "DMP" or the 14 points....
