Deming Prize Info

DENizens,

POINT #1:
The recent request from a Mexican student about Deming Prize resources
got me to thinking that many of you may not visit our DEN web site
enough... There is a section on the Deming Prize with full criteria and
a recipient list. The address is:
http://deming.ces.clemson.edu/pub/den/deming_prize1.htm (prize-one, not
prize-el)

It was predominantly current, until this week -- when the new guidelines
were released by JUSE. I got a e-mail a few minutes ago from Mr. Ichiro
Kotsuka of JUSE telling me the new Guidelines were available. As soon
as I receive them and scan them - they will be at the above address.
Mr. Ichiro Kotsuka also has sent me an up-to-date recipient list, so I
can update the one on the DEN web site.

POINT #2:
I'd also like to thank all of the folks that responded with translations
of Senor Chavez's request. The subtle differences in the translations
is a message in itself. While the DEN is in English - we have many,
many DENizens for which English is not their native language. While I
am struggling to better understand the Deming Philosophy -- at least I
am doing so in my native language!

POINT #3:
Which brings up an idea that some of us have considered... having
non-English resources available on the DEN web site. Dr. Glauser has,
for instance, submitted some papers in German. With enough material,
areas could be set up for different languages to make it easier for
non-English speaking folks. If this is something that interests you or
you have materials or web addresses to submit -- please send them to me
at jim@jclauson.com

Last POINT:
Speaking of web addresses -- many of our DENizens now have their own
web sites. A number have asked about getting links from the DEN web
site. I have frankly not had the time to make this offer -- but since I
am currently "between contracts" perhaps I can get it rolling. If you
would send your URL and a short paragraph -- I'll see what I can do with
DENizen web directory.

The sooner you do, the better you'll do!!

jc
