Re: Continuous Vs Continual

Roger Key asks about the usage of "Continuous" or "Continual"
improvement.

If WED heard anyone use the term "Continuous Improvement" he
would growl "Continual".

I know that to many people the two mean the same. But as Roger
says, strictly speaking, "continuous" means smooth, or by small
changes, while "continual" includes the sort of jumps that come
from innovation. WED always emphasised that the kind of smooth
fine-tuning of processes that comes from the PDSA cycle is
relatively unimportant. The real gains come form innovation. This
is a major theme of TNE
Best wishes
